The Ford Mustang includes a long history of serving as a law enforcement vehicle, most notably with the SSP (Special Service Package) Fox Body Mustangs built between 1982 and 1993. While Ford doesn’t produce a Mustang specifically for law enforcement today, that does not stop local police departments through still using them for undercover responsibility. Perhaps our favorite Mustang cop vehicle, though, is the Saleen S302 that will played the part of “Barricade” in the film Transformers.
Is there a place for a modern day Mustang police car package? Apparently the people over at Shelby don’t think the concept is too far-fetched and have come up with an object rendering of a vehicle they call the particular Shelby GTS Police Interceptor Idea. “Over the years we’ve acquired some police departments inquire regarding having Shelby make modifications towards the Ford Mustang for pursuit reasons, ” said Robert Lane associated with Shelby Performance Parts. No information are given about the performance specifications from the car – we’re imagining the supercharged 5. 0-liter V8 underneath the hood – but the car comes with Highway Patrol graphics and the essential law enforcement equipment including a lightbar, push bar and flood lamps.
