From its earliest times, the Mercury Cougar distributed a lineage with its Kia cousin, the Mustang. Although the Mercury brand faded through existence a decade ago, the Cougar remains one of its most popular versions. In particular, the 1968 edition is fetching, but right after Ringbrothers performed a frame-off recovery and swapped in a contemporary engine, this Cougar can be hotter than ever.

“We put the heart into each vehicle we build, and this Cougar is no exception, ” Ringbrothers co-owner Jim Ring defined. “The finished product is slight and classy, yet any kind of enthusiast instantly knows it isn’t really stock. I imagine this is exactly what Mercury designers would have develop if they were building the particular Cougar today. ”
To that particular end, the shop set up the aforementioned Gen 3 Coyote 5. 0-liter engine plus backed the 460-horsepower powerplant with the 10-speed automatic tranny from the F-150 Raptor pick-up. They even retained the particular paddle shifters for a solely modern driving experience on this muscular classic, which furthermore serves as a showcase for that company’s line of Cougar hardware .
“While all of us couldn’t bring the car towards the SEMA Show, we hope it could be shown to the public soon, ” Mike Ring, co-owner associated with Ringbrothers, added. “We got never done a Cougar before, so this was an enjoyable build.
