Former director of performance vehicle exterior design at General Engines, Tom Peters, is the new Talking to Curator of Exhibits at the Nationwide Corvette Museum.
Peters, who worked for GM for more than 35 years, helped curate a good exhibit for the NCM earlier this year known as “Car-toon Creatures, Kustom Kars plus Corvettes: The Art and Impact of Ed ‘Big Daddy’ Roth. ” This inspired NCM leader and CEO Dr . Sean Preston to ask Peters if he’d re-emerge from retirement and provide this with more expert advice as the most recent addition to its curatorial team, the request to which he happily decided.
“The invitation to utilize the National Corvette Museum, the very first thing that struck me is that it is a fabulous honor, ” Peters mentioned. “I’ve always felt that dealing with the Corvette team was not merely a dream and a privilege, but an amazing adventure and I’ve always deemed Chevrolet and Corvette as family members. This is an extension and continuation of this. Working with Chevrolet and the Corvette group becomes more than just a job, it’s component of your life and lifestyle. ”
Peters joined the GENERAL MOTORS designed team in 1980 plus rose through the ranks before getting the director of design for your GM Performance Car Studio. This individual also served as the chief associated with design for the C6 Corvette as well as the C7 Corvette programs, which gained him a place in the Corvette Corridor of Fame last year.
In a declaration, GM President Mark Reuss mentioned he “can’t think of a better option, ” to help curate future NCM exhibits than Tom Peters.
“His institutional knowledge of Corvette and his enthusiasm for it are unparalleled, ” Reuss said of the GENERAL MOTORS design veteran. “Through the many years, he has played a crucial role to maintain Corvette’s status as America’s Sports vehicle, and, as Consulting Curator associated with Exhibits, he will ensure the Nationwide Corvette Museum remains the ultimate caretaker of Corvette’s storied history as well as its dynamic future. ”
Derek E. Moore, mind curator at the NCM, said he or she hopes Peters’ appointment will improve the museum’s relationship with GENERAL MOTORS even further.
“I believe the Museum has a great connection with GM but bringing Mary on board just makes those contacts even stronger, ” added Derek. “I’m excited to tap into his almost 40 years of experience with the well-known automaker. ”
Peters will officially move into his brand new role with the NCM in The month of january 2021.
