Kyle Busch had taken his first victory from the 2021 NASCAR Cup Collection season this past Sunday, tugging away from the field following a good overtime restart to earn the aptly named ‘Buschy McBusch Race’
from Kansas Motor Speedway.
The No . 18 Toyota Camry driver had a solid car all day, winning Phase 1 and finishing 2nd in Stage 2 at the rear of the No . 5 Chevy Camaro ZL1 1LE of Kyle Larson. Right after running up front all day, Busch found himself on the front side row for the overtime reboot and pulled away from area with teammate Martin Truex Jr. in tow close up behind.
“Just a great day to be able to place this M& Ms Camry up front, ” Busch informed NASCAR. com post-race. “Great to be able to get everyone in Victory Lane again this particular early in the season and obtain those points going our own way. ”
The competition was mostly incident-free, with all the first 167 laps working without any major wrecks or even crashes, although a series of late-race yellows in the closing twenty laps made strategy an essential part of Busch’s victory.
Larson looked strong for Chevy all day, but his competition fell apart following the last restart. Lining up at the rear of the No . 12 Kia Mustang of Ryan Blaney, Larson drove deep straight into Turn 1, leaning upon Blaney’s bumper as they produced their way into Change 2 . Larson pushed Blaney too hard, however , causing all of them both to lose control quickly. This shuffled the set to the back of the industry, ruining either’s chances on challenging Busch for the earn.
“I has been back to third and prepared for pushing Blaney as good as I possibly could and obviously, I pressed too hard and got your pet loose and chased each of us back into the walls, ” Larson said. “I was just trying to assist him stay side by side with all the 18 on the back to permit myself to have some sort of possibility, but I just pushed too much. ”
Kevin Harvick finished second at the rear of Busch, followed by the two various other Fords of Brad Keselowski in third and He DiBenedetto in fourth. Run after Elliott was fifth general and the top-finishing Chevy operater for the day.
