Does a Buick Riviera associated with fast muscle car list?
It’ s an interesting query as these cars were certainly great looking with the long, swooping tail, the big V 8 engine, as well as a solid following. But , is it materials to be included?
There exists a hazy line out there what goes and what doesn’ t. We don’ t have a governing body that will decides these trivial matters, yet we have public opinion. I like the particular looks of the car, I labored on the car, and I have driven the vehicle.
But , I always considered it as a luxury model. Similar to a Lincoln Mark 8. Awesome looking car, somewhat popular with apperance and a big V8. But so never made me think it had been a fast muscle car. But appearance, we cannot say only Chevelles, Nova, Camaro, Vettes, Mustang, Competitors, and a few others are the only fast muscles cars. We would be leaving out there so many American cars it would not really be worth discussing it.
I think you understand my way of thinking now. If we start nick selecting we could go back to the 1980’ ersus and eliminate a ton of cars. three hundred and fifty V8 Corvettes putting out the weak 195 hp. And that checklist is a long one thanks to the brand new federal laws. It was a bad period for engines. If you lived with the great engines of the 60’ s i9000 and 70’ s and then obtained yourself into the 80’ s it had been a bad, bad time. I bought a vehicle in the late seventies that was a genuine California car and it had a lot more emission crap on it to choke anything. It put out 150 horsepower and eventually I had to sell the slug.
Car companies actually were under the gun to clean upward there act and they had to conform. That is why the cars of the 50’ t through the mid seventies are so nicely loved. They had for the most part style plus power. This Riv. as we known as them had styling, power in addition to class. Not a fast muscle vehicle but certainly a really cool car. I actually miss them.
However we all know what happened to this car. This got smaller, uglier, and much less power. The car died a slower, miserable death at the hands of GM. We are surprised actually that Buick failed to go the way of Oldsmobile to inform you the truth. Even to this day the particular sales charts are weak. Stay tuned for more I guess.
