The new BMW M4’s front side bumper has been transplanted on to a 5 Series having an awkward and inevitable outcome
Remember once the E60 BMW 5 Series came out? It was significantly different to its understated E39 predecessor, and not all Philip Bangle’s design flourishes were praised. However the E60 has long-standing really well (numerous electrical mistakes aside), and we could be stating the same about the new BMW M4’s grille in some years’ time.
It was only an issue of time before the big nostrils would be transplanted onto additional BMW models, and now you will get nowadays divisive BMW grille for the E60. We are not sure it improves the particular 5 Series’ front end, though…
From front upon, it doesn’t look really bad, although the curvy headlights really are a bit at odds using the pointy air intakes. The kidneys seem too low down, and so they appear to jut out a great few inches from the headlamp clusters. Perhaps if the grilles were more in line with the car headlights, this conversion would appear a little better.
We need to mention the particular M5 badge at the grille, too. Aside from expecting the M5 never will get this treatment, it’s clear that this poor 5 Series using this nose job isn’t a good M5. Check the very ordinary-looking wheels, bonnet and decorative mirrors.
If you love this kit and want it on the 5 Series, it’s on the Chinese marketplace Taobao for the comparative of around £280, or even $380 in US bucks. The company selling this one furthermore does an M2 grille for the 5 Collection, which looks marginally much better.
It is thought the next-generation BMW M2 is in range for BMW’s mouthy brand new grille design, although there are usually other tuners, like Prior-Design , who offer a more delicate front-end design treatments for that new M3 plus M4.
What car would you place this grille on?
