We’re spending the week with all the 2020 GENERAL MOTORS CO Sierra 1500, the particular new-generation truck that’s built for the GM T1 platform . Our test pick-up is equipped with the turbo-diesel 3. 0L I-6 LM2 that’s part of the Duramax engine family, rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet torque capacity, and it’s mated to the GM 10-speed automated transmission which exchanges power through either the rear or even all four wheels.
Our Sierra test unit is also a Team Cab Elevation trim level along with four-wheel drive and the short box. It is painted in the optional Satin Metal Metallic paint and fitted using the Jet Black cloth seat cut. The Elevation edition is mostly a design package derived from the SLE cut level, adding a monochromatic look with blacked-out body trim plus wheels to give the vehicle a nice striking look.
Here’s a quick break down of what the package includes:
- Trim-specific blacked-out 20″ wheels
- Distinct monochromatic door handles, bumpers and billet grille surround
- Black external accents, including grille insert, tow line hooks and side window cut
Note that our 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 isn’t furnished with the optional CarbonPro carbon fiber box or the MultiPro tailgate , since the idea at the rear of the Elevation package is to keep your price low while still providing consumers a fair amount of standard apparatus.
That said, the vehicle we see here does have a number of options piled onto it, like the Height Value Package which adds the 10-way power driver seat along with power lumbar, rear wheelhouse line, dual-zone climate control, heated front side seats and steering wheel, an automatic rear-locking differential and a trailering package.
There’s also the Preferred package which usually adds the eight-inch infotainment display screen, a 120-volt power outlet, the Bose premium sound system, a power slipping rear window and the HD Rear Vision camera. Finally, our pickup truck also has the available Driver Notify Package 1 which adds Rear Cross Visitors Alert , Front and Rear Park Aid , Lane Change Alert plus Blind Area Alert , as well as the power sun-roof standalone option. The final price since it sits is $51, 795.
We will have the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Duramax for a week exactly where we’ll specifically be observing the real-world fuel economy to see when it’s worth opting for this diesel powered engine over either the two offered 5. 3L V8s (the 5. 3L L82 V8 or the 5. 3L L84 V8 ) or the 6. 2L L87 V8 . So if you would like to learn more about this truck beyond the specification sheet, ask your questions in the responses section, and we’ll reply promptly as part of the GM Specialist interactive review.
Ready…. set… go!
