Several riders opted for more prudent strategies, waiting to make their mark within tomorrow’s first full stage, nevertheless current Dakar Rally title owner, American Ricky Brabec wasn’t keeping back in his first contact with the particular Saudi desert. Behind your pet, Monster Energy Honda Team squad-mate, Joan Barreda, was the first of the particular team’s four riders, notching upward an excellent time, some six mere seconds shy of Brabec.

Today has been good. Pretty short – only a ten-kilometre prologue. Nothing to really get rid of or nothing to gain. Just enough in order to shake the bugs out of the bicycle and the body. We’re now looking forward to the actual start. Tomorrow we begin nice and early. We came aside with first and second put in place the prologue for me and Joan. So tomorrow Joan and I will certainly open the way and hopefully it will eventually go well. It’s a long competition but I think strategy will start to enjoy in, but as of now, it’s time for you to get lunch, get the gear away from and time to focus.

These days we did the prologue. This didn’t go as expected in terms of outcomes, but I felt comfortable for the bike, without making any errors. The bike is very good plus ready for the race days in the future. Tomorrow the good part starts and we’ll try to go out to perform as good the race as possible.

Today’s prologue phase was quite entertaining and attractive. There were some river areas along with hard and soft sand ground. I was able to have a good day time and get the engines warmed up with this Dakar. I’m very happy and looking towards starting stage one tomorrow.

We are happy with this first day. It had been a pretty quick prologue and it was not easy. The first part was in a river and it was complicated due to the fact we had to validate each take note within an 80-metre radius. From there we all entered a very stony mountainous region which was very quick and quite difficult. We hesitated over some of the Roadbook validations but didn’t really waste a lot of time. I am quite happy with this 1st contact.
