Ever since he earned the particular NMRA G-Force Racing Transmissions Coyote Stock championship in 2017, John Lamb has been eager to back it up.
He came shut with a second-place finish in the classification in 2018, which made your pet even more motivated going into 2019, yet his Mustang wasn’t as full of energy as he had hoped it would be earlier in the race season.
“The car wasn’t working quite right at the first race from the year in Florida, and we attempted everything, but we couldn’t determine what was wrong, ” said Lamb, who relies on a Gen II Coyote engine with a JLT Performance chilly air intake, G-Force G101A transmitting and UPR suspension components. “We didn’t qualify well, and then I actually lost in the first round associated with eliminations, and that was the first time I had fashioned lost in the first round within years. ”
But things started to improve pertaining to Lamb at the fourth event upon last year’s NMRA tour, the particular NMRA Ford Motorsport Nationals within June at Maple Grove Track in Pennsylvania.
“The NMRA gave Coyote Share racers the option to upgrade camera phasers at that race, and am chose to do it because I seemed mine were bad and that improving them would help my vehicle run better, ” said Lamb. “So, my crew and I taken the entire front of the engine to set up the new cam phasers, and we achieved it in about three hours. ”
With that, Lamb’s Mustang gained momentum.
“The cam phasers helped, ” said Lamb, who added that will around the same time, he began providing his engine different types of oil prior to choosing LAT oil purchased via fellow racer Rick Riccardi associated with Riccardi Racing. “The car experienced better and I could see the distinction on the timeslips. ”

“We had been making changes to those items to get the car to run better, so when it started running better using the new cam phasers, we returned to our previous set-up, ” stated Lamb. “We had finally identified what the car wanted, and we tied to it. ”
Lamb, who earned a trip towards the Aerospace Components Winner’s Circle, the runner-up finish and a semifinal complete on his way to a second-place complete in G-Force Racing Transmissions Coyote Stock points in 2019, was not in a hurry to put his car aside for the winter, as he and other racer Tim Matherly, whom this individual swaps data with, headed to the test session to further fine-tune.
“After our test program, I have everything the way I want this, ” said Lamb, who has completed a best of 10. 26 plus 129 mph in G-Force Race Transmissions Coyote Stock trim. “I just added a few sensors towards the RacePak data logger. ”
With that, Lamb’s vehicle is buttoned up and he is ready to bolt to the NMRA’s season-opening 26th Annual Nitto NMRA Springtime Break Shootout, Feb. 27-March one at Bradenton Motorsports Park within Florida.
“Tim (Matherly) and I would both prefer to earn the championship this year, yet we’d be happy if one of all of us earned the championship and one people earned a second-place finish, ” said Lamb, whose crew furthermore includes Billy and Matt Vackert.
