Enthusiasts Swarm Mustang Week’s New Pull Racing Venue

In its sixteen th 12 months, Mustang Week has embraced change to keep the popular enthusiast event moving into the near future. From changing the dates in order to relocating several events, this year’s event offered many of the same functions, but many in different locations. Case in point will be the drag racing Test ’N Track day moving to Northern Myrtle Beach Dragway , that is much closer to the rest of the week’s motion.

“So far so great, ” Brad Worley of Mustang Week enthused. “I am amazed with the guys that run the area. They were here early this morning track-prepping. We advertised that we were beginning at 10 o’clock and at ten past 10 we were running vehicles down the drag strip. ”

All of us spotted this insanely detailed, Fastlane Motorsports-prepped Boss 302 at the Fulfill ’N Greet. Sporting two turbos, an impressive  level of detail plus four-digit credentials, the Gotta Get it Green machine made some shakedown goes by even though it is set up for mile race. Stay tuned for more on this car.

In previous many years, racers and spectators had to take a trip nearly two hours to the nearest drag strip. That meant isolating the hardcore 1, 320 followers from those who might rather stay and enjoy the beach. This year, the big event was close enough that everybody could sample some drag race.

Austin Holley required top honors in the Pro Dynamometer dyno shootout in his Armageddon twin-turbo Boss, which put down over 850 at the rear wheels.

We’ve obtained completely blue skies and I was not roasting at Mustang 7 days for a change. — Brad Worley, Mustang Week

Maybe even better than the proximity to the seaside was the more livable temperatures shipped during the week’s later run.

“This is unbelievable, ” Anthony said. “We’ve got completely azure skies and I am not cooking at Mustang Week for an alter. It actually feels really good. ”

Based on the constant visitors in and out of the track, which overcome the local roads, we’d say many people did make the trip to enjoy the race action in the moderate weather — some for the first time. At some points in the daytime the traffic was so saved going into the track that private sector organisations turned potential attendees away.

“They are lined up plus a little slow getting through the entrance, but you’ve got to make sure that everybody signals the waiver and has the right armbands, ” Brad explained.

Though it really is Mustang Week, there are plenty of other Fords around, including some representatives through the hot hatch contingent. This bolt on Focus ST actually got the particular jump on a few Mustangs but the ponies managed to run the ST lower before the stripe.

Fortunately, we were there from the leap and able to capture the actions on the track and in the pits this year. There were a few times the monitor went down because of an oildown  or even an unfortunate crash, but for the most component racers were getting in plenty of constant runs between track prep.

One of the coolest things about Mustang Week is seeing cars through all eras mixing it up with each other at the events. Even though each design has its fans, they are all valued this week in Myrtle Beach.

The track is definitely an old school, eighth-mile facility with no lighting (perfect for the grudge racing which was scheduled after the Mustang Week occasion officially ended), so we didn’t are able to document any e. t. ’s, but we did see lots of great cars run, so maintain scrolling to see what we spotted.

On Friday the big time arrives at the Myrtle Beach Tradition Center, which will host its very first Mustang Week car show, therefore stay tuned for our continuing coverage from the event.

A new venue and chillier temps made the Mustang 7 days drag racing action far more appealing to participants and spectators alike. Throngs packed the facility and there was clearly definitely plenty of tire spinning.

Bill Tumas of CJ Horse Parts video fame is accessible this week signing dashes and operating the company’s SEMA EcoBoost Mustang project car, which we showcased last year. Bill was pleased which he beat his co-worker Chris Cervenka, who was piloting his own Mustang GRAND TOURING.

Most people a new safe and enjoyable day, yet this driver’s fun came to a good abrubt halt, which his vehicle got loose and hit the particular wall. The driver was fine. The vehicle on the other hand, has seen better times.
