“Absent from the most-stolen list will be any version of the Cadillac Escalade, which previously dominated HLDI’s ratings of vehicles popular with thieves, ” the safety watchdog said. “Part of the reason is that the large luxurious SUV now has more competition for the reason that category, including from the Infiniti QX80 and the Land Rover Range Rover, vehicles that are now among the most taken. ”

Thieves might have also caught onto the fact that GENERAL MOTORS vehicles can be easily tracked plus remotely shut down via OnStar, furthermore preventing Escalade thefts, but this particular wasn’t enough to deter the particular rampant problem for owners from the SUV. As a result, GM installed cup breakage sensors on the Escalade, together with motion detectors and a sensor that creates the alarm if someone attempts to jack the car up or tow line it away. This seems to have curbed Escalade thefts somewhat, the HLDI indicates.
