Mr. bieber Cavallucci Builds First 460-Swapped S197 Mustang

“First” carries a lot of bodyweight. Be it the first comment on a new movie, or something as significant because walking on the surface of the moon, it is still “first. ” It just fits that today’s spotlight is certainly on Justin Cavallucci’s 2007 Mustang: the first — and one of few — road-going 460ci swapped plus carbureted modern Mustangs.

Cavallucci provides always wanted a Mustang, so when the clutch blew out on their Audi, a beat-up daily operater, he opted to get something he’d be proud to drive.

In Feb 2016, Cavallucci took notice of the listing for a 2007 Mustang in a Ford dealership. “It was in almost perfect condition, tastefully modified with a share GT 8. 8 rearend currently installed, and aftermarket shifter, ” he said, adding that he purchased the car that same day.

Driving of his “new” car, Cavallucci noticed the mufflers were reduce as he drove home from the car dealership. Without any prior experience working on vehicles, he bought a jack and jack port stands, and fixed the exhaust mufflers.

“After getting over the fear of rising under a car for the first time, I found serenity working underneath it and have been running after that same calm feeling every single chance I get, ” Cavallucci said. As a result, working on his S197 has taught him everything he or she knows about cars today.

“I by no means knew how far the build can have and never imagined it would be this considerably, ” Cavallucci said of their Mustang, which he affectionately called the Black Pearl.

“I have never been to technology school or taken a course on how to modify cars. I discovered through trial and error and have been the first in line to make a few modifications to the vehicle, ” Cavallucci said.

Mods towards the Mustang started relatively simple: changing the particular ignition coil box and ignite plug wires, and adding a good axle-back exhaust. He quickly advanced to more extensive modifications such as installing the first N2MB WOT Container on the 4. 0-liter, development of the very first turbo manifold for the 4. 0l, and the first street-driven 460ci motor swap.

“I have a lot of pride which i have built this entire vehicle myself, ” Cavallucci said. This individual added that it has never been taken to the mechanic for anything.

“When the particular clutch went out and I had certainly not done it before? I decreased the trans for the first time and transformed the clutch. It ran properly for 30, 000 miles. After i wanted to install 4. 10 things? Done, ran great for 40, 1000 miles, ” Cavallucci said. He or she noted the only time he has become help with the car was for issues that require two people, like aligning the brand new engine with the motor mounts.

Like many other V-6 proprietors, Cavallucci reached the point where he had to select between forced induction or a good engine swap if he wished more power.

“When I initially did the turbo setup on the four. 0-liter engine, I did it mainly because I wanted to have one of the most powerful four. 0 V-6 Mustangs in the world, ” Cavallucci said.

Like any new product within development, the turbo setup had the flaws. “I almost sold the vehicle and picked up a Shelby GT500, ” Cavallucci said, adding which he had grown tired of how hard to rely on the turbo setup was, and he needed something that he wouldn’t fear would definitely blow up at any given moment.

“It had been winter, and I had not driven the vehicle for nearly a month, but when I required the car out, feeling the power at the rear of that little V-6 immediately spiked my interest again. ”

Cavallucci did not want to give up the added energy the turbo gave him, but he or she did not want to mess with the potential electric nightmare that is a Coyote swap, therefore he opted to perform an motor swap with the 460.

According to Cavallucci, the particular 460 big-block/385 series platform nevertheless has a strong backing of components that came out in the early 2000s. The 429/460s came in Ford automobiles for 29 years, which has produced stock and aftermarket performance components easily accessible.

“I consulted several new friends of mine plus figured out how I wanted to do the 460 swap. I set a develop cost estimate —  then bending it to be safe —  plus bought the majority of the parts I required. ”

According to Cavallucci, the 460 exchange has been running since May four, 2019, and he has put almost 1, 000 miles on it. This took Cavallucci 65 days within a parking garage to complete the exchange.

Selecting a transmitting to back the 460 was your hardest decision Cavallucci faced. “I couldn’t justifiably buy a manual transmitting knowing it would be so much more expensive to develop, and knowing that I would eventually use an automatic when I am making good luck down the line. ”

Cavallucci said he programs to stick with the C6 three-speed transmission until the car goes over 1, 500 horsepower.

Another challenge he or she faced was finding a set of long-tube headers. “There arent any long-tube headers for this swap because it is still being innovated. I acquired some Fox-body 460 swap headers and luckily the passenger aspect fit, but the driver side must be completely re-fabricated, ” Cavallucci mentioned.

At the time of this writing and to the very best of Cavallucci’s knowledge, his vehicle is one of three running S197 Mustangs fitted with a 460 exchange. Of them, Cavallucci says one is the track monster that is rarely road driven due to it lacking the cooling system, and the other belongs to some friend of his.

“There is not any other car like it in the world, ” Cavallucci said. “The car will get attention, the good and the bad, all over the place I take it. Everyone loves seeing the carbureted modern Mustang. ”

Cavallucci attempts to take his beloved Black Gem out every week and shows this as often as he can.

“Seeing just how curious and happy it makes individuals is one of the greatest aspects of having the vehicle, so taking it out a lot more makes me happier. The car is proof of concept, in an attempt to get more individuals interested in the 460 platform once again, especially in Mustangs. ”

According to Cavallucci, the only real drawback of the 460 swap is it is costly to drive on the street. “Big-blocks aren’t the most ‘gas-friendly, ’ therefore i have to refuse a few shows due to how far away they are. I anticipate getting a trailer for it so I may take it wherever I want. ”

That said, Cavallucci said if he had to do it once again, he wouldn’t change a thing. “The car has become perfect in my eye, and it has been a learning procedure since day one. I am still changing the car every day, making changes, plus adding different parts that were in no way meant to be there. ”

Cavallucci has been documenting the develop process from the engine pull in order to its completion. The videos, available on YouTube, go into detail about how to obtain specific components to work.

One of the things Cavallucci learned from the build was that their life is meant to be spent around vehicles and how to spend half —  or even more —  of his paycheck in the car each month and still get by.

Want to know the best part of the build is how much appreciate has been put into the car. “Even when something happens to it, it will continually be one of the biggest things to have ever occurred in my life. If I did not have it, I would be a completely different person nowadays. It changed my life and offered me something that will stay with me forever: information and drive. ”

Cavallucci says the vehicle will never be finished, and he expects to work on it until the day he is able to no longer pick up a wrench. Their future modification plans include the add-on of a full tube chassis, fiber glass body, door-slammer ground effects, plus 2, 000+ horsepower. In the instant future, he plans to add a collection of turbos, upgrade the heads, put in a new cam and intake a lot more, and build the transmission.
