We managed to get invited to find out part of Bruce’s collection at their garage in Beverly Hills, Ca. “I don’t even think of personally as a collector, I think of me personally as an rabid enthusiast, ” he or she said. “I think an enthusiast is somebody that says ‘I’m likely to collect sports cars’, so they begin putting together a collection with some theme. ” Taking his left hand plus gesturing in a sweeping motion across the room, he continued. “I’m a lot more sporadic. Everything in here, we generate, everything, everything in here we competition. ”

“Then I bought a Model The roadster pickup truck in ’68 and am had it until ’97, therefore i had that for 30 years. However started getting into classics, I bought the ’32 Cadillac and bought a ’32 Buick,   then a Pierce Gazelle. I like the classics, but the just car I kept hold of those years was that 4-cam. ”

Hot Rods

Once Bruce started their story, there was no interrupting. Genuinely, he went on with his audience viewing his every move. “Then within the late ’80s and early ’90s, I started buying historic roadsters. I like the idea of buying old roadsters where the original builders were nevertheless around and restoring them. Meyer loves to show off the hot rods that were made by fat guys in T-Shirts.

“That’s the oldest hot rod on earth. It won Pebble Beach.   For years, I begged the committee there to let us show hot rods, ” he said. That he smiled again, paused for effect, then continued. “I’ve shown my Duesenbergs and classic cars at Pebble Beach, and I kept saying to the organizers, ‘You got to do hot rods, ’ and they kept saying, ‘No way, we’re not dumbing down our show for hot rods, over our dead body. ’ I believe I just wore them out. ”

The 1960 Briggs Cunningham Le Mans Corvette is recognized as one of the first major entries for an American carmaker in European racing. Claiming a class win and eighth overall in 1960.

“Ten years of begging and I think they did hot rods at Pebble Beach ’97, just to appease me, and it was such a huge success. They’ve done them every other year since.

About His Collection

“I’ve exceeded my expectations, ” Bruce claimed. “Largely because cars have found their way to me. Such as the Cobra, I was over in France and just bumped in to that. The idea of getting the first Cobra ever made … I mean, come on, that has been serendipity. We wanted a good race Corvette, so I was fortunate enough in order to buy one of the Cunningham cars. We also bought the C6R that won Le Mans. Anything that connects to Le Mans is real important to me, ” said Bruce as a couple of boos came from the gallery. “ I know that’s maybe not popular in this crowd, but that is the World Series, Olympic games, and Major Bowl of motorsports, Le Mans. Truly five Le Mans winners and am just love that, that’s all of the race. ”

Meyer’s Le Mans winning 2009 Chevy truck Corvette C6. R is stored in the exact condition that it ran on the track. Meyer claims any smashed bugs in the grille are undoubtedly French bugs from Le Guys.
