Now, a year later, the American automaker is ready to introduce the renewed Escalade. This 2016 Cadillac SUV will come with a few new technical innovations and slightly changed design. The base version will keep the current powertrain, while the sport version named V-Sport is expected to receive a new engine.
Exterior and interior redesign
Sharing the same platform with the GMC Yukon and the Chevrolet Tahoe the new Escalade in its outlines will not undergo considerable changes. The slight redesign concerns the grille which will look more aggressive and powerful with horizontal bars and centered Cadillac badge. The new elements will also be marked in the sport model. It will have a new front bumper and LED headlights. The rear end of the 2016 Cadillac SUV will the feature renewed stylish vertical LED taillights and exhaust pipes.
The new Escalade’s interior created by A1 specialists is able to give uneclipsed luxury atmosphere. The convenient cabin will feature three rows of leather seats, a heated steering wheel which is also upholstered with stitched leather, and a sophisticated console with an LCD screen, surround audio system and connectivity for mobile devices. In addition, the upcoming model will receive such new infotainment and safety systems as Advanced Diagnostics as a part of the CUE system, rear-seat DVD system, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Awareness Package and others. Folding the third-row seats, you can increase the luggage space up to 1640 liters. The second row can also be folded giving 1220 liters more.
As far as the powertrain, the 2016 Cadillac SUV will continue the current 6.2-liter inline-eight engine which is capable to deliver 420 hp with almost 600 N-m of torque. This power unit will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel-drive as standard and all-wheel-drive as an option. The sport version of the Escalade will reportedly be equipped with a 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine with output similar to the V8. It shows better fuel economy. Also, some sources say that the V-Sport can get the V8 engine which will be reinforced with a supercharger. Thus, this power unit will be able to produce up to 600 hp.
