This mid-sized SUV has always shown an excellent combination of elegance and power. Any variant of the Grand Cherokee has a number of high-quality special features including a modern grill, bumpers, daylights, foglights etc. Whatever version of the off-roader you choose, it will be the best. The most impressive modification of the Grand Cherokee is said to be presented in 2016. According to the media, the Jeep SRT8 2016 will receive the most powerful engine of the automaker’s line-up. Some technical solutions may be borrowed from the Dodge Challenger Hellcat.
The first photos of the Jeep show that the automaker decided to keep the traditional massiveness and aggressive look. The changes concern few elements, but they can be noticed at first sight. The headlights is especially flaring, featuring a new xenon technology and adaptiveness which automatically detects daytime or direction change. This will increase road lighting quality.
The grill will be in the previous version’s style, but with a bit smaller dimensions. Thus, the car’s face will be more compact but recognizable, and sleeker lines of the hood will improve aerodynamics. In the front part there will be more space due to the high lifted bumper that will let the driver fully use all the off-road functions of the car.
The developers paid even more attention to the cabin of the Jeep SRT8 2016. Now it will represent the luxury class. The seats with heating system will be upholstered in leather with suede inserts. Some chromed details will create a special look. The wide dashboard will feature heaters and an 8.5-inch display between them. For controlling the driver can use both the touch-screen and the buttons below it. Besides it, the infotainment will also include an audio system with nine speakers. Optionally it will be offered a DVD/Blueray player for the rear seats. The safety system will include anti-lock brakes, stability control, hill-start assist, blind spot monitor and others.
Engine and specs
The Jeep SRT8 2016 will receive a new 6.2-liter inline-eight engine. Reinforced by a supercharger this power unit will generate amazing 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. The engine will be paired with eight-speed TorqueFlite transmission. All-wheel-drive is expected as well. Powered by such a motor the Grand Cherokee will be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph only in 4.8 seconds with maximum speed of 175 mph.
