The sport car Z-series were launched back in 1969. During 46 years Nissan has produced six generations of this model range. The Z-cars have always been praised for their appearances, performance, affordability and reliability. In 2016 Nissan is going to continue this line-up releasing a new roadster called Z35. There is some rumor that the next-gen sport car will be a revival of the legendary Fairlady Z model. But most probably, the 2016 Nissan Z35 will just replace the Z34. From the previous model this car will differ with lightweight materials used in the exterior and interior elements. Also, it will feature some other improvements.
The Z35 will be based on a changed variant of the Infinity Q50 platform. This version of the platform was specially developed for the reduced weight of the car. The new Z35 is said to weigh only 1300 lb, being a little bit narrower.
The sport car is designed in the Z style with a sloping hood and flat rear. Continuing the traditional appealing and powerful tone the 2016 Nissan Z35 will come with improved aerodynamics.
As far as the interior, the car will feature a spacious cabin providing convenience for the driver and passengers, in spite of having visually small dimensions. For sure, the interior design will be modern, showing luxurious style. Unfortunately, there is no precise information about peculiar technological properties with which the Z35 will be equipped, but judging on the previous model, we can assume that it will feature such advanced elements as an LCD-screen, Bose Audio System, mobile connectivity as well as numerous safety systems.
For the 2016 Nissan Z35 the engineers offer at least two motor options. The powertrain, which needed much effort, have been developed in cooperation with Mercedes. So, the first option is a 2.0-liter V4 turbocharged engine. It can show output of 210 hp with 255 lb-ft of torque. The second power unit is another turbocharged engine. This six-cylinder motor has displacement of 3.0 liters. It is able to deliver over 400 hp. In addition, some sources claim that the Z35 will also be equipped with a hybrid engine, but there is not any reliable information about that yet.
Release date and price
The 2016 Nissan Z35 is expected to be released in late 2015 or in early 2016. According to rumors, the price of the base version will reach $30.000, while the hybrid variant may cost up to $50.000.
