While produced in Europe and Asia as the Navara, in the United States this mid-size truck became known under the name of the Frontier. With this car, in 1997, the company replaced the Hardbody truck. In 18 years Nissan has developed three generations of this vehicle. And the all-new Frontier is going to appear on the US market in 2016, being the only truck for the next year Nissan line-up. There is no doubt that the pickup will come with numerous improvements featuring renewed exterior and interior. As some sources say, the 2016 Nissan Frontier specs will undergo considerable enhancements as well.
The model will be released in three trims, namely the S, SV and SL. Each of them will have different design and powertrain. According to modern technologies, the new truck is produced with using aluminum and other lightweight materials. Weight reducing will positively affect the 2016 Nissan Frontier specs. Overall, the car will have elegant and powerful outlines.
For the new Frontier two cabin modifications are offered. These are the Crew Cab and the King Cab. The former will have four doors with enough space for the back seats. This variant will be useful to transport three or more persons regularly.
With reshaped lines of the bodywork the truck will have a new U-formed grill with fitted LED headlights. The foglights integrated into the front bumper will be upgraded as well. The cargo body will be somewhat enlarged. For more adaptability and durability the wheels will be broader.
As far as the Frontier’s interior, unfortunately, there is hardly any information yet. But judging on the previous model, it’s possible to assume that Nissan’s great quality will be continued in the new truck’s cabin too. Besides more space, we can expect some improvements of technological systems such as mobile connectivity, on-board display, audio system and others.
As far as the 2016 Nissan Frontier specs, at least two engine variants will be offered for the model. The first option is a 2.5-liter inline-four engine. This power unit is able to generate 152 hp and 170 lb-ft of torque. The engine will be matched with a five-speed transmission which allows good control and fuel economy. The other motor is a 4.0-liter V6 engine which can deliver over 260 hp with 280 lb-ft of torque. This engine involves a selection between a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic.
